Puppy chow/muddy buddies is something I seriously miss since having my peanut allergy. Yes it's been a LONG time, but it's not one of those things I think about until it's in front of me and I can't eat any.. I've tried soy nut butter in a few recipes, but with little to no avail. Something about the taste just wasn't working. As much as I like it by itself, in stuff it just isn't the same. Now I've discovered this thing called Cookie Butter! It's my new favorite thing. Trader Joes makes it. It tastes kind of like gram crackers but with more cinnamon. Or like gingerbread. Or like angels flying around in your mouth. This is what it looks like:
I added two oz of butter, 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of cookie butter. Melt it all together and mix until smooth. Add a little vanilla between 1/2 and 1 tsp. I used the microwave and worked at 30 second intervals.
Then pour that lovely molten mixture over Life cereal. Stir to coat.
My grandpa was getting impatient for the final product... I found it easier to mix the mixture about half way and then add it all to the bag and mix the chocolate around. Then I eyeballed the powder sugar and had a little dance party while shaking it up.
Here's the beautiful finished product! It was super super tasty!
