Carnival!!!

Well my friends, Carnival is here and there are just two more days until the party will stop! Fat Tuesday is rapidly approaching and the binging will end. Before I lived in Ecuador and the UK I had no idea flour and eggs were a big lent no no!! In England, Pancake day is celebrated on Fat Tuesday to rid the house of the eggs, sugar, milk and flour. Yes it is shocking that England holds onto a holiday that has anything to do with Catholicism, but they LOVE their pancake day! In Ecuador things are simpler. Flour and eggs are simply thrown at each other in the streets (along with a horribly smelling and tasting colored aerosol foam called espuma). It's hard to say which I like better. Trying to walk to school in the weeks leading up to Carnival avoiding flying water, flour and eggs or gorging myself with pancakes.. In any case, I don't think the flour throwing thing is going to catch on in America, so this year I'll settle for pancakes!
