Peanut free peanut butter cookies

I miss peanut butter, peanut butter cups, peanut butter fudge, snickers, peanut butter cookies.. The list goes on and on. Recently I've been thinking maybe it would be better if I'd never had peanuts so I couldn't miss them.. Well I can't change that and I haven't have peanuts in almost 9 years. It gets easier to adjust to replacements like soy nut butter.

This recipe turned out very well, but next time I might use 1/2 soynut and 1/2 sunflower seed butter. This would also work with almond or other nut butters if you can't have peanuts but can have tree nuts.

I used a classic recipe in the 1957 power company cookbook and switched out the peanut butter. I know the ones my grandma circled will always be the best!

Here's what you need:
-1 cup butter
-2/3 cup soynut butter
-1 cup sugar
-1 cup brown sugar
-2 eggs
-2 tsp vanilla
-2 2/3 all purpose flour
-2 tsp baking soda
-1 tsp salt
- sugar for rolling (about 1 cup)
-24 chocolate kisses

{Text from original}
 Cream butter and peanut butter; add sugars gradually. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients. Shape level teaspoons full of dough into balls. Roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheets. Press kiss into each cooky (original spelling). Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.

I made mine bigger than the tsp and it did not make 11 dozen!
